Would someone please explain to me why I am NOW supposed to decorate for Halloween! It stresses me out to think that I may have to take down all of my current decorations (which are nothing special) and slap up something fall-ish. THEN, one month later, set out Christmas decorations! Argh! Who thought this one up????? Was it the same person who said we now have to decorate our bathrooms?
I did actually buy a pumpkin last week; I was going to set it out on my porch ~ but it was too tempting ~ I baked it ~ pureed it ~ and actually added it to pasta sauce! Mmmm. It was wonderful served over pumpkin/buckwheat soba pasta. Froze the rest...I'm thinking gluten-free pumpkin/chocolate chip muffins!
Have you ever seen Fall in Central Texas: One day your tree has green leaves ~ a strong wind comes along ~ the next day, all of the leaves are in your yard ~ another strong wind comes along ~ now the leaves are in your neighbor's yard.
So, how do you decorate for that? If you have any ideas, I might give it a try!

Leslie, you crack me up! You perfectly described Fall in South Texas!
But we simply MUST decorate because there IS NO FALL to see here! So that's why we find ourselves combing the bins at Hobby Lobby, looking for COLOR to add to our landscape of brown. Pumpkins are a must because they are colorful!
One year at our Barn Sale we had a whole ton of pumpkins to decorate with, and we painted some Aggie Maroon! Now those were beautiful pumpkins! And they actually looked great right alongside the burnt orange looking ones..... :)
