Sprucin' Up the Ol' Hacienda

It recently occurred to me that most of my fixtures and furniture are from two houses ago.  Being wise  shoppers, we purchased several quality pieces that will likely be around when we are not.  So, no new furniture for me...my only option is to redo fixtures and accessories...and not spend a lot of money on either.

So, project #1 was taking down this valance and draperies.

They actually came with the house when we purchased it four years ago and they went well with our furniture (that should've been a signal right there).  Now, they've been replaced by this...

...which still goes well with our furniture.  They started out as this...

...a little bleach, a little sewing, and a little cash equals a new look.  The real cost was the rod, but I had a coupon, of course!

Final dilemma, what to do with a 12' long valance that needs to not be in my house.  Thank goodness for Craigslist...and I made a little cash which helped offset the cost of the rod.
