Sew Many Projects...Sew Little Time

This is what Winter looks like in Central Texas...at least for the last two weeks.  This got me thinking about stocking up on some warm-weather tops, which I hate because they are so dang low-cut.   And lots require a tank top underneath (you know, that low-cut thing)...seriously...layers...in Texas...in the Summer.  That just ain't happening!

So, I found this great free pattern from Colette Patterns called the Sorbetto.  It's actually a sleeveless tank top (great for under jackets or cooler days) and I thought I'd give it a try.  I had this Anna Maria Horner Voile fabric, which is fabulous to sew with, and I wanted to start on my summer top stash.

One problem, this top is sleeveless, and sleeveless grandma's with untoned arms are...well, better leave that to the imagination.  Thank goodness that talented folks are willing to share their skills because I found a sleeve already drafted for this top here

I decided that the sleeves needed to have a little gathering, so I made a few adjustments and Voila!  A top is born.  Later this week I will post a few of my alterations and how-to's to make this top.  I will say, it is incredibly easy to sew, fits true to size, is easy to alter, and has the cutest pleat down the front.  Mena over at Sew Weekly did a whole week of this pattern...lots of great ideas....

This week, I plan to work on t-shirts...we'll see.
