Spring in Austin

Last summer was the hottest, driest summer in Texas history. Over 80 consecutive days of 100-degree plus temps. It was Bru-Tal. About half of my grass is dead. I had to let the veggie garden go because I could only water 1 day per week between midnight and 7am OR 7pm to midnight.

And then God remembered us and sent rains and a mild winter!  There are wildflowers everywhere and Knockout Roses are blooming all over Austin.

It is April 2nd and my veggies already look like this!

Tomatoes all lined up like soldiers.  Soon there will be a sea of red deliciousness on my counter top.  I can't wait.

There are already blooms on my tomatoes!  On April 2nd!
I can't wait for the harvest!

Today, I interviewed a new yard man and he gasped and said, "Are those your onions!"  He couldn't believe how huge they were this early.

Next week I will likely be picking sugar snaps.

Rain is such a glorious thing!
