Loving Leslie's Garden

Last Spring we I decided our side yard needed a new look.  So, Mr. Seasoned Homemaker worked hard and we ended up with this.

1.  Artemesia
2.  Society Garlic
3.  Desert Willow Tree
4.  Blackfoot Daisy

This was as good as it ever got because...

...the drought came.  Over eighty consecutive days of 100-plus plus-degree days.  It was bru-tal.

Extremely tight water restrictions limited any water we could've used.  We had a small watering window once a week to keep everything alive.

Fortunately, most of our plants were drought tolerant and survived.  And, we had a {relatively} mild wet winter (for Central Texas).

We lost a few plants.  The Society Garlic (#2), which I carefully moved from another part of the yard, literally melted in the heat.  Boo hoo.

I think I am most proud of my Artemesia (#1).  By the end of last summer it looked like I had dug it up, tied it to the back of the truck, and dragged it around the neighborhood.

Not anymore.  It is the feature plant I had hoped it would be.  And, it has the most beautiful scent when you walk past.

All in all, this newly planted garden survived what is now considered the worst drought Texas has ever seen.

All is good in Leslie's Garden.
