About two years ago, I contacted my son-in-law's mother and asked if she (who occasionally quilts) would be interested in doing a quilt together for our grandson's soon-to-be big boy bed. Whew! She was on board. I agreed to pick out the fabric and she would piece it. Then I would machine embroider some designs. But, the fabric had so much pattern that we just left it in blocks and it turned out great. When mentioning my quilting project to a real quilter, she offered to take the pieced quilt top and do the quilting on her sister's long arm quilter. You still with me, all I actually did on my grandson's quilt was buy the fabric and batting. Not bad for a day's work.
So, 18 months have passed and now there are two grandsons and the least 'un is now close to getting his big boy bed. Since he will soon be sharing a room with his big brother...you guessed it...he will be needing his own matching quilt. Luckily, I found a little more of the fabric used in Quilt 1 and it has been crowding a corner of my sewing studio. So, yesterday, I decided to just start cutting. Seriously, I cut out (more like "cussed out") 35 blocks that were 14 x 14. I laid them out on my dining room table and placed them in random order until they looked right (whatever that is?). Then, I looked in a borrowed quilting book at the best way to order blocks, sewed them together with a 1/4" seam, and Voila! A quilt is born.
I'm guessing that this was the easy part...more as this project progresses!

I'm getting a headache just reading about all of those details. Did I say thank you yet? :)
