Fresh Idea

I always love it when someone else does my work for me.  Longtime customer Dana over at Fabriphoria was one of the first to get a Sweetheart Chic Apron Pattern.   I think I sent her pattern just before I went to bed.  Next day, I woke up and she had sent pictures.  Ah, to be so focused.

Anyhoo, I just love what Dana did.

Notice, my apron on the left...notice Dana's on the right.  My apron is according to the pattern instructions.  On the right, Dana has made a few changes...she added a hem ruffle which is a simple adjustment.  I haven't tried this, yet, but here's what I would do.  Cut two strips that are 2.5" x 44" each.  Connect them in the middle and hem.  Gather, pin and stitch to the hem rather than adding bias trim.

Like me, Dana is a fan of rickrack.  Here she added a piece of rickrack to the pocket where the Pocket Band and Pocket connect.   She also increased the size of the Pocket Band.  Try doubling the length to get the same effect.

Lastly, Dana added a bit of rickrack where the yoke and bodice connect.  Add this before you stitch down the sides and you will get the same look.

I always hope that my patterns are simply a jumping-off point for your creativity.  Whether it is a unique fabric choice or a few embellishments, making aprons can be so much fun!
