I didn’t have a picture of unfrozen beef broth to show when I posted the how-to directions.
Behold, the finished product. It simmered off and on in a crock pot for 36 hours and this is the result. A rich, dark brown beef broth. Why would anyone consider using that pale stuff in a carton when such deliciousness awaits you.
Notice the little bit of oil rising to the top. After chilling overnight in the fridge, I may (or may not) skim it off.
Since all of my wide mouth Ball jars were in the freezer holding beef and chicken broth, I pulled out these repurposed yogurt jars. Notice the amount of space between the broth and the top of the jar. V-E-R-Y important to leave ample space or the jar will burst in the freezer, you will cut your hand when you go to pull it out, and then bleed all over your brand new jeans...
