The Help

Just in case you are about to dash off and see The Help I wanted to point out another writer who also is from Jackson, MS and wrote about her life there during the same time period.  Yep, I'm talking about the fabulous Eudora Welty and her collection of short stories set during that period.  If you want a true and unaltered depiction of the people and the place, you will find no better example than The Collected Stories of Eudora Welty.  Here's an exerpt from Why I Live at the P.O.
