Sugar Pie Update

Whew!  What a week.  First things first; Sugar Pie (aka my dad) is doing extremely well after a very serious surgery on his lungs.  He's in a room and recovering well.  His prognosis is great.  I can't say enough about the unbelievable skill of his surgeon.  You know things are going to be fine when the patient feels good enough to complain about being in a hospital and start asking when he can go home...

Here's an interesting fact:  Sugar Pie's surgery was at St. Luke's in the Houston Medical Center.  He is being treated by one of the best cardio/pulmonary teams in the world.  But here's what's odd...On the second floor is the OR and ICU where tumors are removed and hearts are bypassed.

However, on the first floor is a McDonald's!  It's like you get your disease on the first floor...stick around a bit and let your arteries harden, then they can whisk you up to the second floor and roto-rooter the clogs.  Hmmm.  It really seems ironic to me....

Can you tell he's a vet?  I think the haircut gives it a way.
