More Quilt Market Awesomeness

Now that I'm home again and full of inspiration, I thought I'd give my final take on Quilt Market 2011.  I know, I really gushed about this adorable Babyville stuff.   But I live in Austin and using paper diapers could make you an outcast.  AND, I attend about 30 baby showers a year.  Do the math...this is awesome.  I think the first thing I want to do with all of these supplies is make a pattern for cloth pullups.  My daughter uses cloth diapers and thinks that there needs to be something transitional.  Uh, I'll get right on that!

I would say, overall, that the colors and fabric styles are very similar to last year.  This is probably a reflection of our nation's economic woes.  As you scroll down, notice how similar things are.

Not a lot of change in sewing pattern styles, either.  I actually saw a few repeats from last year.

I thought this was clever!  I overheard Sandi Henderson telling another person about the bench which she picked up at a thrift store.  A little paint and and some of Sandi's fabulous fabric and now you've got something really cute and original.

Patty Young's booth was, by far, the most colorful.  Again, I'm not seeing anything really new or totally original, but lots and lots of bright colors!

The most interesting trend, overall, is the amount of organic cotton fabrics that are now available in a variety of colors and styles.  This is a very encouraging trend.  Look for these fabrics to cost $2.00-$5.00 more per yard.  Yikes!

The good news - sewing remains popular and gains new devotees daily!

The not-so-good news - there were fewer attendees at Quilt Market this year.  This translates into fewer fabric stores and limited fabric choices for those of us who shop locally.

How do we fix this:  find a friend and teach her to sew!
